The Malone University volleyball team recorded a three-set victory on the road Tuesday evening, defeating NCAA Division II Tiffin University by final scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-16. The Pioneers and Dragons were tied 18-18 in the opening frame before Malone secured the set by tallying seven of the next nine points. The visitors then took command early on in sets two and three en route to their second win of the season. Malone improved its record to 2-3 overall following Tuesday's match while Tiffin slipped to 0-5.
Outside hitter
Megan Fisher paced the Pioneer attack with eight kills, 11 digs and one solo block. Middle hitter
Hannah Haver also notched eight kills with 10 digs and a pair of block assists. Middle hitter
Lauren Townley added seven kills with two service aces. Setter
Jackie Schwamberger handed out 24 assists to go with three kills and three digs while outside hitter
Taylor Slauterbeck contributed three kills, eight digs and two blocks (one solo).
Malone will depart early Wednesday morning for San Diego, California as the squad prepares to take part in this weekend's Point Loma Nazarene University Invitational. On Friday, the Pioneers will take on Texas Wesleyan University at 11:00 a.m. EDT (8:00 a.m. PDT) before facing the host Sea Lions, who are ranked at No. 6 in the most recent NAIA National Poll, at 7:30 p.m. EDT (4:30 PDT). Then on Saturday, Malone will face NAIA No. 9 Concordia (CA) University at 12:00 p.m. EDT (9:00 a.m. PDT) before wrapping up its weekend with an 8:00 p.m. EDT (5:00 p.m. PDT) contest against NAIA No. 12 Biola (CA) University.
