Malone Picks Up Road Win At IUP

The Pioneers improved their record to 10-6 overall with Friday's four-set triumph at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Malone University volleyball team picked up a four-set road victory Friday night against Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an NCAA Division II school located in Indiana, PA.  The Pioneers took the first two sets of the night by scores of 25-13 and 25-17.  The Crimson Hawks rallied to take set three 25-23 before Malone cemented the victory with by claiming set four by a 25-14 margin.  The Pioneers' overall record moved to 10-6 with Friday's triumph while IUP slipped to 7-7.

Middle hitter Lauren Townley paced the Pioneer attack with a career-high 18 kills.  She also posted a pair of digs and two blocks.  Outside hitter Megan Fisher followed with 13 kills, six digs and two service aces.  Outside hitter Taylor Slauterbeck registered 11 kills with four digs and two service aces.  Middle hitter Hannah Haver added nine kills and nine digs.  Setter Jackie Schwamberger tallied 43 assists to go with five kills and 12 digs.  Libero Allison Kirby also made solid contributions with 15 digs.

Malone will be back in action on Tuesday night when the squad travels to Pepper Pike, Ohio for a 7:00 p.m. contest at Ursuline College (4-6 overall).  Fans that cannot be in attendance can follow the action on-line with live audio and statistics courtesy of the Ursuline Sports Information Department.  Click here for links to each.
