Box Score

The Malone University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road to Geneva (PA) College Wednesday night as the Golden Tornadoes fought back from an early 1-0 deficit with three unanswered goals. The loss dropped the Pioneers' overall record to 3-3 on the season while Geneva improved to 4-1-1.

Forward Kelvin Aquino put Malone in front just under 13 minutes into the match, scoring his third goal of the year off a pass from fellow forward Josh Abend.  The Golden Tornadoes answered back 10 minutes later as forward Jake McCracken registered his seventh goal of the season to knot the score at 1-1.

The hosts pulled ahead 10 minutes into the second half as Jon Mathoslah found the back of the net off passes from Jeb Nash and David Gerlach.  Geneva then put the match away in the 82nd minute when Teddy Krzywiecki assisted David Harwood on the Golden Tornadoes' third goal of the contest.

The Pioneers held a 13-10 advantage in shots on goal.  Malone keeper Tim Giesel tallied seven saves while Geneva netminder Bryan Butler made 12 stops.

Malone will look to bounce back next Tuesday (Sept. 20th) when the squad returns to action with a 4:00 p.m. home match against Taylor (IN) University (5-1 overall).
