Pioneers Lose Home Contest To Tiffin 76-43

Playing in its second game in as many nights, the Malone University women's basketball team lost a home contest to visiting NCAA Div. II Tiffin University on Tuesday night by the score of 76-43.  After a tough battle the previous night, in a 66-60 home loss to NCAA Div. II Wayne State University, the Pioneers were unable to overcome the Dragons' solid shooting and a defense that forced 22 Pioneer turnovers on the night.  With the victory, Tiffin improved to 3-0 on the season while Malone dropped to 1-5 overall.

Tiffin opened up a 46-25 halftime lead, shooting 45.7% from the field, and then improved its percentage in the second half to 51.9% for an overall game percentage of 48.4%.  Malone shot only 26.7% from the field for the game as the Dragons outscored the Pioneers 30-18 in the final frame for the 76-43 win. 

The visitors edged Malone in three-point percentage, hitting six of 15 for 40.0%, while the Pioneers sank four of 12 from beyond the arc for 33.3%.  At the foul line, Malone won the mini-battle by converting 78.9% (15-19) to Tiffin's 66.7% (10-15).  The Dragons held a solid advantage in rebounding by a 43 to 28 margin.

Guard Lauren Myers paced the Pioneers with 16 points on the night, including a three-for-six effort from three-point range, while also hitting all three of her free throw attempts and grabbing three rebounds.  Forward Lindsy Snyder tossed in 12 points, sinking four of eight field goal attempts, while yanking down a team-high seven rebounds and tallying a perfect four-of-four at the line.  Guard Sara Tucke contributed five points while forward Sarah Bardall had four points and four assists.

Tiffin was led by guard Karli Mast, who pocketed a game-high 21 points (8-13 FG, 4-5 3FG), while forward Jessica Harris followed with 12 points.  The Dragons' Amanda Baute grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

After its back-to-back contests last night and tonight, Malone will be back in action again next Tuesday when the team takes on Walsh University (2-2) in a 6:00 p.m. away contest.
