Pioneers Sweep Notre Dame College In Three Sets

The Malone University volleyball team picked up a three-set victory at Notre Dame College on Tuesday night by final scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-17.   The Pioneers improved their overall record to 26-9 with the road win while the Falcons slipped to 9-19.

Middle hitter Lauren Townley paced the Pioneer attack in Tuesday's convincing victory with 12 kills and five blocks (two solo).  Outside hitter Megan Fisher followed with nine kills, six digs and three block assists.  Middle hitter Hannah Haver added eight kills, two service aces and seven digs.  Setter Jackie Schwamberger dished out 31 assists and scooped up seven digs.  Outside hitter Taylor Slauterbeck also made solid contributions with six kills. 

Malone will be back in action on Saturday when it competes in a tri-match hosted by Urbana University (8-22 overall).  The Pioneers will face the host Blue Knights at 11:00 a.m. before taking on Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University (27-3 overall) at 1:00 p.m.
