Malone Splits Pair of Matches On Day Two Of Indiana Wesleyan Tournament

Outside Hitter Lori Gale Registered A Season-High 15 Kills In the Pioneers' win over Trinity International

The Malone University volleyball team, ranked 23rd in the most recent NAIA National Poll, had its 15-match winning streak come to a close on Saturday as the squad posted a 1-1 record on the final day of Indiana Wesleyan University's Wildcat Classic. The Pioneers suffered their first loss of 2010 in the opener as Bethel (IN) College pulled out a 25-14, 24-26, 19-25, 25-19, 15-11 triumph. Malone bounced back in the weekend finale, though, topping Trinity International (IL) University in four sets by the final scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-19. Malone's overall record now stands at 16-1 on the year after posting a 3-1 mark at the weekend event.

Against Bethel, outside hitter Jennifer Gahagan smashed 18 kills to go with 12 digs and five blocks (one solo). Fellow outside hitter Lori Gale recorded 12 kills, two service aces and eight digs. Middle hitter Hannah Haver added nine kills, 10 digs and six block assists. Right-side hitter Megan Fisher also posted nine kills while setter Jackie Schwamberger dished up 48 assists with two service aces.

In the finale with Trinity International, Gale led the way with 15 kills and 12 digs. Haver posted 10 kills and nine digs. Gahagan tallied nine kills and 15 digs while Fisher notched three service aces and Schwamberger registered 36 assists.

The Pioneers will return to action on Tuesday as they open American Mideast Conference play with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Ursuline College (7-8 overall).
