Pioneers Endure 1-0 Loss At Indiana Wesleyan On Overtime Penalty Kick

The match remained scoreless through the first 99 minutes and 24 seconds

The Malone University men's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss in a non-conference match at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon as the Wildcats scored the game-winner on a penalty kick with 36 seconds remaining in the extra period. The narrow defeat dropped the Pioneers' overall record to 4-8-0 while IWU improved to 5-6-1.

Saturday's contest remained scoreless through both regulation periods and the first nine and a half minutes of overtime. IWU midfielder Geoff Bowden was then delivered the golden goal after being fouled inside the box. The Wildcats held a slim 4-3 advantage in total shots on goal as Pioneer keeper Felipe Monteiro made three saves.

Malone will return to action next Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. match at NAIA No. 3 Notre Dame (OH) College.
