The Malone University volleyball team brought its brief two-match losing streak to an end on Friday evening by tallying a 25-21, 25-22, 25-17 victory in an American Mideast Conference contest at Daemen (NY) College. The Pioneers, ranked 23rd in the most recent NAIA National Poll, improved their record to 20-3 overall and 4-1 in the AMC with the win while the Wildcats fell to 8-12 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Malone used a balanced attack in the three-set triumph as setter
Jackie Schwamberger and outside hitters
Jennifer Gahagan and
Lori Gale all notched eight kills apiece. In addition to these kill totals, Schwamberger also dished out 22 assists, Gahagan posted two aces and 12 digs while Gale notched four block assists. Other contributors included right-side hitter
Megan Fisher with six kills, right-side hitter
Emily Beiting with 10 digs, middle hitter
Lauren Townley with four kills and six blocks (two solo) and middle hitter
Hannah Haver with six block assists.
The Pioneers will return to action on Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. AMC match at home against Notre Dame (OH) College.
