Brian Stock

2017 will mark Brian Stock’s sixth season as the full-time head coach of the Malone University men’s soccer team, making him the second-longest tenured head coach in the history of the program.

Stock arrived at Malone in December of 2011 after serving as the head women’s soccer coach at NCAA Division I Southern Utah University, in Cedar City, Utah, for the previous 11 seasons.  He was the first coach in SUU women’s soccer history, having established and built the program from its inception.  Within a few years of beginning the program at SUU, Stock’s 2004 and 2005 teams were ranked in the NCAA Top 20 for Most Improved Teams.  In 2005, he was named the Mid-Continent Conference Coach of the Year.  In addition, he led SUU to six conference tournament spots, including four consecutive trips to the postseason between 2005 and 2008.

Prior to his stint at Southern Utah, Stock served as the assistant women’s soccer coach at NCAA Division I Youngstown State University from 1998 to 2001 and also as an assistant men’s soccer coach at NCAA Division I University of Akron from 1996 to 1998, helping lead the Zips to a Mid-American Conference crown in 1997.

Prior to beginning his collegiate coaching career, Coach Stock served as a Director of Soccer Programs for Athletes in Action Soccer Canada in Vancouver, British Colombia, from 1994 through 1996, and was responsible for directing youth camps, staff training, overseeing the operations of the semi-pro club and administration of international tours.

A 1995 graduate of The University of Akron (Accounting), Stock was a four-year varsity letterman for the Zips soccer program, playing at the goalkeeper position.  During that time, the Zips won a Mid-Continent Conference championship in 1991 and Mid-American Conference titles in 1993 and 1995. Stock went on to earn his Masters of Business Administration (Marketing) from Akron in 1998.

Stock earned two MAC Commissioner's Awards for academic excellence during his playing career. Stock played for three seasons with the AIA Football Club, a semi-professional club in Vancouver, B.C., where he helped guide the team to a Pacific Coast Soccer League playoff berth in 1994. He was also named a PCSL all-star in 1996 and was rated as one of the league's top goalkeepers all three seasons.

Stock hails from North Canton, Ohio, and is accredited with the Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Stock also has numerous years of Olympic Development program experience and was also the Director of Coaching for the Forza Futbol Club–South in St. George, Utah for nine years
