Nick Koontz

Nick Koontz enters his first season as the Men's Basketball Graduate Assistant Coach in 2020-21 after playing basketball for four years at Otterbein University and graduating with a degree in Business Administration and Management with a minor in Marketing.

Koontz was a four-year starter at guard for the Cardinals. He finished an impressive 3rd in steals (2.0 SPG) and assists (4.3 APG), as well as 10th in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) in rebounding (5.9 RPG) his senior year.

In his junior and senior seasons at Otterbein, Koontz was named a team captain and was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He was also a member of the Otterbein Men's Basketball Leadership Counsil in 2019-20. 

In the classroom, Koontz was named Academic All-Conference in 2017-18, was on the Dean's List all four years of school and is a member of the Torch & Key Honorary Society.

Before coming to Malone, Koontz previously served as a Sales and Marketing Intern at Haudenschild Insurance Agency, an Assistant Operator at Buckeye Container and a volunteer homework helper at the Westerville Library.
