Day One Story Day Two ResultsThe Malone University men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed in day two of the four-day GLIAC Championships at the Waterford Mott High School in Waterford, Michigan (hosted by Wayne State University) on Thursday. Two Pioneer men's records were broken and three NCAA Division II National Championship provisional qualifying "B cut" times were recorded.
After day two of the competition, the Malone men have moved into 7
th place (from eighth), among eight teams, with 137 points. Grand Valley State University (MI) leads the men's field with 464. The Pioneer women remain in eighth place, among a 10-team field with 62 points. Wayne State University (MI) leads the women's field with 428 points.
For the men,
Chris Eckard registered a runner-up spot, a NCAA Division II National Championship provisional qualifying "B cut" time, and broke the school record in the 200 yard freestyle during the Championship Final, finishing in 1:39.00.
Cory Boogaart notched a ninth-place finish in the Consolation Finals and registered a NCAA Division II National Championship provisional qualifying "B cut" time in the same event (1:41.21).
In the Championship Final,
Florian Zellin notched a fifth-place spot in the 100 yard butterfly (49.99) and recorded a NCAA Division II National Championship provisional qualifying "B cut" time during the prelims, finishing with a 49.80 mark, while also breaking the school record. In the Consolation Finals,
Tim Collet finished 14
th (51.12), while
Hector Gonzalez finished 16
th (51.74).
The members of the 400 yard medley relay team of, Boogaart, Collet, Zellin, and Eckard, finished in fifth place, with a time of 3:22.86.

Austin Weingart took eighth-place in 200 yard freestyle relay, finishing in 1:28.63.
On the women's side,
Marta Jankowska,
Olivia Bently,
Kaylor Schuttinger, and
Carolin Friedrich finished eighth in the 200 yard freestyle relay, with a 1:43.51 time. That is now the fifth fastest time in Malone history.
Brittany McCue, Bently,
Christina Neumann, and Schuttunger placed ninth in the 400 yard medley relay (4:14.31).
Jankowska took a 16
th place spot in the Consolation Final in the 100 yard butterfly (1:00.30).
Day three of the GLIAC Championships will be held on Friday with prelims scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and the finals set for 5:30 p.m.
