Day One ResultsThe Malone University men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed in the day one of the four-day GLIAC Championships at the Waterford Mott High School in Waterford, Michigan (hosted by Wayne State University) on Wednesday.
After day one of competition, the Malone men are in eighth place, among eight teams, with 43 points. Grand Valley State University (MI) leads the men's field with 178 points. The Pioneer women are currently in ninth place, among 10 teams, with 21 points. Wayne State University (MI) leads the women's field with 214 points.
For the men,
Tim Collet finished seventh in the 200-yard individual medley (1:52.94) prelims and notched a sixth-place spot during the finals, finishing with the same exact time as he did in the prelims (1:52.94).
Cory Boogaart,
Tim Collet,
Florian Zellin, and
Chris Eckard registered a fourth-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay (1:32.99). They now rank fourth all-time at Malone in that event.
Chris Eckard finished 17
th in the 50 yard freestyle (21.41) prelims, but just missed the finals cut by seven-tenths of a second.

On the women's side,
Marta Jankowska took a 12
th place finish (2:09.48) in the 200 yard individual medley which was enough to send her to the finals. In the finals, she tallied a 14
th place spot, finishing in 2:09.27.
Carolin Friedrich placed 15
th in the 1000 yard freestyle, with a 11:05.60 time.

Marta Jankowska, and
Kaylor Schuttinger collected a ninth-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay (1:54.57).
GLIAC Championship competition will continue tomorrow (Thursday) with the prelims starting at 10:00 a.m. and the finals starting at 5:30 p.m.
