In November of 2022, Michael Jewell was hired as the first head women's lacrosse coach in Malone University history.
Previously Jewell served as the interim head coach at Ashland University during the 2021 season where he coached four total All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honorees on the field, and had fourteen players earn either All-Academic Excellence or All-Academic honors from the GLIAC.
Jewell's lacrosse background also includes nearly a decade of experience as an official at both the high school and collegiate level, as well as working as the assistant boys lacrosse coach at Wooster High School since 2019. Â
Outside of the game of lacrosse, Jewell is a career law enforcement officer, and has worked for the Wooster Police Department since 1993. In 2001 he was elevated to the role of Patrol Sergeant.Â
Jewell is a graduate of Akron University, the FBI Leadership Academy, and the Police Executive Leadership Academy.Â
He has been married to his wife Beth for 23 years, and the couple have three children.Â
