Annie Patton returns for her second year as a graduate assistant coach for the Malone men’s and women’s track and field teams, working primarily with the throwers. Annie is originally from Darlington, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Mount Union where she competed in the javelin and shot put for the Purple Raiders. She graduated from Mount Union in the spring of 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Biology.
While competing for the Purple Raiders, Annie was a four-time NCAA Division III national qualifier in the javelin and a two time All-American in the event (2008 & 2009). She holds the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) record, Mount Union record, and All-Ohio record. Annie also received all-conference honors in the shot put. She was a team captain for two years and in her junior season led the Purple Raiders to their first OAC win in 15 years, with a repeat during her senior year.
Annie was named to the USTFCCCA Academic All-America team four times, received the Clyde Lamb Award, and was named Mount Union’s Outstanding Senior Woman in 2011. Annie is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Theological Studies at Malone and serves as the Sports & Recreation Director at Alliance Friends Church. Upon graduation, Annie hopes to pursue college-age ministry as well as continue her coaching career.
