Whitney Hartman

Whitney Hartman has served as the head coach of the Malone University softball team since the fall of 2009, having guided the Pioneers to a 36-61 record over the past three seasons.  After leading Malone to a 10-16 overall record and berth in the American Mideast Conference Postseason Tournament in 2010, Hartman was named the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) East Region Co-Coach of the Year.

She has coached at the Triple Crown City of Lights College Softball Showcase in Las Vegas, Nevada in October 2011 and November 2012.  In addition, Hartman has served as an infield instructor for USA Preps in Palmdale, California in November 2012 and in Las Vegas January 24-27, 2013.  She also had the opportunity to coach at the Kent State Showcase in January 2013.  Hartman begins her fourth season with the Pioneers as Malone enters the provisional stage of the NCAA Division II membership process and embarks on  its first year of competition in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC).

Hartman, who resides in Stow with her husband, Tim, is a graduate of the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky and was the starting first baseman for the Patriots.

Hartman began her collegiate softball playing career at Cedarville University where, as a freshman in 2005, she started every contest at first base for the Yellow Jackets and nabbed AMC Player of the Week accolades twice.  While at Cedarville, Hartman also garnered NCCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team Recognition.  Upon transferring to the Cumberlands prior to her sophomore year, she immediately entered the lineup at first base and remained a starter for the Patriots over the next three seasons.  She was tabbed Mid-South Conference Honorable Mention in 2008 following a strong senior campaign under Coach Angie Dean.

Hartman also garnered Ohio All-State Honorable Mention and MML Conference Player of the Year accolades after an outstanding senior season in 2004 at Franklin High School in Franklin, Ohio.  She was also a member of one of the top travel programs in Ohio, the Miami Valley Xpress under Dave Brittingham and John Rebman.
