Matt Woods

Matt Woods is working with the Pioneer cross country teams for the fifth year as a technical advisor and sports physiologist. A graduate of Malone, Matt competed for the Pioneer distance program, qualifying for nationals in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track while also earning NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete recognition.

He received a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Eastern Michigan University and has taught physiology and fitness courses at Malone. In addition, Matt also trained Pioneer alums Dave Gramlich and Leo Kormanik as they prepared for the 2008 Olympic trials. Matt brings his scientific knowledge to the planning of the Malone workouts and his metabolic testing and lactate analysis is a great contribution to the advancement of Pioneer distance running.
