Dick Pierce begins his first season with the Pioneer coaching staff in 2013. He will be coaching the kickers, punters and holders while assisting with the special teams.
Coach Pierce is a veteran football coach with 40 plus years of experience at the high school and collegiate level. He began his coaching career at Geneva H.S. coaching wide receivers, defensive ends and special teams. While at Geneva he captured seven Northeast Conference Championships and went 10-0 in 1975 and 1976. He became the head coach at Centerburg H.S. in 1981 where he became Class A Coach of the Year in 1982 and was honored as Mid-Buckeye Conference Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1985.
He and his family moved to Reno, Nevada in 1987 where he was the Offensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator at Reed High School. He then went to Reno McQueen High School as wide receivers coach and Special Teams Coordinator. McQueen won the Nevada State Championship in 1997.
After moving back to Ohio in 1999, he was named the kicking consultant at Ohio State University for two years. He then went to Tiffin University as the Special Teams Coordinator and the Head Junior Varsity coach in 2001-02. In 2003, he became the Special Teams Coordinator and defensive backs coach at Grove City High School. In 2004, he was hired as Special Teams Coordinator and wide receivers coach at McKinley High School. During the offseason while at McKinley he coached the kickers for the Columbus Destroyers in the Arena Football League. In 2008, he left McKinley and returned to Geneva for a second stint, coaching wide receiver and special teams.
Since 1990, Pierce has conducted kicking camps around the nation producing many college and NFL kickers. He now resides in Geneva with his wife Becky.
