Andrew Boak

Malone Alumnus (2018) Andrew Boak started Malone Esports as a Club Sport in Fall of 2019 as the staff advisor. The club grew in size with weekly game nights to gather interest across campus, and make students aware of the new opportunity to get involved.

The club grew to have a League of Legends team that competed in the spring semester of 2020, and local Smash Bros. tournaments on campus for bragging rights.
COVID did not prevent Malone Esports from continuing to grow, as the club offered digital game nights for students to play with each other online.

Come the spring semester of 2021, Malone Esport's first Rocket League team was formed, and competed against other schools across the country. That same semester, a Smash Bros. Ultimate team was formed, and they competed in an online tournament.

As Esports gained more traction, the decision was made to move away from the club sports status towards a full Varsity sport. With the help of Assistant Head Coach, Jacob Garwood, Malone Esports will officially launch as a Varsity sport in Fall of 2022.

In honor of their official announcement to become Varsity, Malone Esports held a tournament on campus titled, Rocket Smash. A dual tournament for both Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, high school students from all across the state were invited to come onto campus and compete in one or both titles for a variety of prizes. The event was live streamed, and is available on Malone's Event Services YouTube channel.

Andrew graduated from Malone in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Upon graduation, he was hired onto the Information Technology staff to work the Help Desk. He continues to work in the Information Technology department on campus in addition to coaching Malone Esports.

Andrew has played video games ever since he can remember, from FPS titles to RPG's, and everything in between. He currently resides in Canton, where he plays games and watches livestreamed Esports competitions so he can continue to stay up to date with all things Esports.
