Malone Edged by Tiffin; Defeats Ursuline for Season Sweep

02/28/26

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - On Saturday, the Malone University STUNT team was in action in a tri-match at Ursuline College. The Pioneers started their day against Tiffin University in a neutral site game and came up just short 24-21. Malone ended the day with a victory over the host Arrows 14-3.

After the contests, the Pioneers now have a record of 9-2 overall and a 3-2 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Tiffin is 10-4 and 4-2 in the league while Ursuline remains winless at 0-8 in total and inside the G-MAC.

MALONE vs TIFFIN RECAP:
The Dragons claimed an early 3-1 lead in quarter one, but a key victory for Malone in the final round of partner stunts cut the deficit to one at 4-3. Tiffin was able to outscore the Pioneers in all four rounds of pyramids and tosses to go up 11-6 at halftime. Malone continued their dominance on routines one and two in the third quarter and made the score 16-11 through three quarters of play.

In team routine, the Pioneers won round one 4-3, then stayed even with a 3-3 tie and took the third round as well by a mark of 3-2. Malone was in striking distance at a 24-21 deficit, but the Dragons used the call to their advantage in the fourth round and selected a routine too tough for either side to accomplish to result in no points. Because of this, Tiffin was able to lock in the 24-21 victory.

Danielle Blankenship, Megan Reifsnyder, Makenna Jurkowski and Cecilia Herrington were involved in all 21 points for the team.

MALONE vs URSULINE RECAP:
Malone and Ursuline completed in an eight-round game for the second of two meetings in the regular season. The Pioneers had won the first contest at home against the Arrows by a score of 16-4 and made the most of their opportunity for a road win with the 14-3 victory.

Malone took both available points in the first quarter with consecutive wins in partner stunts routines one and two. The Pioneers took a 5-1 lead at halftime with a 3-1 difference in scoring in the second quarter of pyramids and tosses. Ursuline kept pace in jumps and tumbling, but Malone was still ahead 8-3 through three quarters. The team routines were overwhelmingly in favor of the Pioneers in a 6-0 sweep of the two rounds.

Blankenship, Reifsnyder, Jankowski and Julia Gartner scored all six points during team routine while Herrington and Macy Taylor scored five of the six points.
