Malone Shuts Out Albright; Defeats East Stroudsburg on Saturday

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - On day one of the Warrior Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University, the Malone University STUNT team went 2-0 with wins over Albright College 23-0 and the host Warriors 21-16. The Pioneers are now 6-1 overall while Albright is 0-2 and East Stroudsburg is 1-1.
 
MALONE vs ALBRIGHT RECAP:
Malone was able to shut out Albright in their first event day as a program. The Pioneers won 4-0 in all three rounds and then scored points in 11-of-12 opportunities during team routine, just missing a perfect game.
 
Danielle Blankenship, Megan Reifsnyder and Makenna Jurkowski were point scorers in all events. Cecilia Herrington was active with 20 points and was a major player during jumps and tumbling with all four points in quarter three. Julia Gartner had 20 points as well with all eight points in the first half on her ledger. Macy Taylor contributed with 18 points and 15 points were earned by Emily Wilhelm, Oneal Everett, Alyssa Walker and Eden Marquis.
 
MALONE vs EAST STROUDSBURG RECAP:
The Pioneers were able to build a sustainable lead with a great first half. Malone won the first quarter of partner stunts by a 4-2 total. The first three rounds went to the Pioneers and the Warriors took only the final round of the period. Pyramids and tosses were dominated by Malone 4-0 to increase their lead to 8-2 at the break.
 
Jumps and tumbling went to East Stroudsburg as the home team attempted a comeback. The Pioneers took the points in routine one, but higher-level selections went to the Warriors. A key decision in the quarter was a 1-1 tie in the fourth round. Malone was able to keep pace with East Stroudsburg in the team routine portion of the scoring. Each squad was able to win their own call by a 3-2 score to get to the 21-16 final score in favor of the Pioneers.
 
Blankenship, Reifsnyder, Jurkowski and Gartner were involved in all 21 points in the game. Wilhelm, Everett, Smith, Marquis, Maggie Tolley and Myla Wolf were scorers in all four rounds of pyramids and tosses, the key 4-0 quarter for Malone.
 
UP NEXT:
The Warrior Invitational concludes for the Pioneers with two neutral site contests, the first of which is on Sunday, February 22 at 9:30 A.M. versus Randolph College. They will end the tournament with a 10:30 A.M. game against Misericordia University.
