NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Malone University STUNT team moved to 4-1 and 2-1 inside the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) with an 18-8 victory at Walsh University (1-4, 1-4 G-MAC).
Â
The Pioneers claimed an early 2-0 lead through the first quarter after the Cavaliers could not keep up with their opponents in partner stunts. Walsh forced a forfeit by both sides in the final round of the quarter to prevent Malone from gaining an additional point. In the second quarter (pyramids and tosses), the Pioneers swept the Cavaliers 1-0 in each of the four rounds to make it 6-0 at halftime.
Â
Walsh was finally able to put points on the board in jumps and tumbling, but Malone extended their lead to 11-3 after an unsuccessful challenge. In the first two rounds of team routine, the Pioneers did enough to win 5-4 in round one and 2-1 in round two, but no points were awarded in the final two rounds to secure the 18-8 triumph.
Â
Malone will compete in four games in the East Stroudsburg Tournament beginning on February 21. The first contest for the Pioneers will come against Randolph College at 1:30 P.M.
