STUNT Competes in G-MAC Championships

03/29/25

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Malone University STUNT program competed for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon for the first time in program history. The Pioneers were ousted from the event in the Semifinal Round with a 23-0 loss to the eventual G-MAC Champion, Davenport University. Additionally, the Pioneers came up just short in the Consolation Game versus Tiffin University, 13-11.

"I think we went on the mat and did what we were supposed to do," Co-Head Coach Karen Marinos stated post-game. "The girls held up to their potential. We had 12 girls on our team last year and we were doing maybe two routines, the growth that we have had is really special and I'm glad that we were able to get here with this team!"

"Last year, we could only do routines one and two and now we can do jumps and tumbling five and pyramid four – I'm so proud of our team," junior Megan Reifsnyder said.

Junior Eden Marquis had this to say of the team's performance and growth, "The people who were on the team last year have led us and encouraged us to push and get better. All of us as a whole wanted to get better. It's been great to have that kind of leadership."

MALONE vs DAVENPORT RECAP:
The Panthers were able to score three points in the first quarter, but swept the Pioneers from there on out. Davenport took all four points in second quarter pyramids and tosses, third quarter jumps and tumbling as well as 12 points in team routine.

The Panthers advanced to the G-MAC Championship where they defeated Ashland University for their first tournament title. The loss sent Malone to the Consolation Game where they faced Tiffin University.

MALONE vs TIFFIN RECAP:
The Pioneers and Dragons were neck-and-neck the entire game. Both sides notched two points in the first two quarters. Tiffin took a slight advantage in the jumps and tumbling portion of the scoring and maintained that pace during team routine. The Dragons were able to claim six points compared to five for Malone to secure the 13-11 win.

The Pioneers conclude the 2025 season with an 8-11 overall record, a five win improvement on the 2024 campaign.
