STUNT Stuns Muskingum in Overtime

CANTON, Ohio – In the final regular season game of the season, the Malone University STUNT team claimed a 15-14 overtime victory against Muskingum University on Tuesday night.
 
The Pioneers improve to 8-9 overall as the team prepares for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament. The Fighting Muskies are now 4-8.
 
Malone fell behind 3-1 to Muskingum after the first quarter of partner stunts. The Fighting Muskies retained the two-point advantage into halftime with a 2-2 split in pyramids and tosses.
 
The Pioneers were able to make up one of the two points needed to tie in the third quarter of jumps and tumbling. Malone trailed 7-6 going into the fourth quarter event, team routine. The Pioneers were able to overcome an unsuccessful challenge to draw even with Muskingum 13-13 and force an overtime period.
 
Malone was able to live up to the pressure of an extra team routine and came through for a 2-1 scoring difference in overtime to secure the non-conference victory.
 
On Saturday, March 30, Malone will compete in the G-MAC Tournament. The team faces top seed Davenport University in the Semifinal Round at 12:00 P.M. The event takes place at Ashland University and the Pioneers will play at either 3:45 P.M. or 5:00 P.M. depending on the results from the Semifinal Round.
