NORTH CANTON, Ohio – For the first time in program history, the Malone University STUNT team has qualified for the postseason after they split a tri-match at Walsh University on Saturday.
MALONE vs ASHLAND RECAP:
The Ashland University Eagles defeated the Pioneers by a score of 23-2 in the first game of the day. Ashland scored four points in each of the first three quarters while Malone could only muster up one point in the pyramids and tosses portion of the scoring. In team routine, the Pioneers scored an additional point during team routine, but the Eagles added on to their lead to secure the win.
MALONE vs WALSH RECAP:
After the loss to Ashland, Malone knew they needed a win against Walsh to lock themselves into the G-MAC Championship Tournament. The Pioneers jumped out to a 3-1 advantage after scoring in partner stunts. They would extend the lead to 5-2 at the half.
The Cavaliers would not go away easily, however, as they doubled the Pioneers in the third quarter to get back to within one at 7-6. With each squad's season on the line in the fourth quarter, Malone did just enough to retain the lead at 13-12 and secure the road victory.
UP NEXT:
The Pioneers will enter the postseason as the number four seed in the G-MAC STUNT Championship with a 4-6 record in conference play and will face Davenport University at 12:00 P.M. in the Semifinal Round. That game will be hosted by Ashland University.
Before the postseason begins, Malone has one final regular season matchup at home versus Muskingum University on March 25 at 7:00 P.M.
