ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Malone University Track & Field team began their 2023-24 indoor season this weekend by competing at the Mount Union Toy Drive Collegiate Opener.
The meet was hosted by the University of Mount Union.Â
RESULTS:
60m Dash: The Pioneers were led by Deja Curry-Brown (8.10) and
Macey Hicks (8.24) on the Women's side.
Sophomore
Phil Stupka led the men with a time of 7.22.Â
200m Dash:
Macey Hicks clocked a 28.03, good for 9th place as the top Lady Pioneer. She was succeeded by
Amber Morris (28.50) and Gabriella Gudger (28.52).
Alex Swinehart was the lone competitor for the Men's side and he finished with a strong 24.86.Â
400m Dash: Swinehart was again the lone Pioneer and he brought home a time of 54.68.
800m Run: Marissa Brown opened her collegiate career with a 2nd place finish and a time of 2:36.21.
1 Mile Run: Three strong performances by
Trinitie Woolace (5:47.98),
Kaelyn Jones (5:49.86), and Rachel Whitestone (6:23.95) gave Malone 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishes.Â
3000m Run: Brylan Holland started his Freshman season with a bang as he brought home a first place finish with a time of 9:52.32
4x200m Relay: The Lady Pioneers, consisting of
Megan Reifsnyder,
Macey Hicks, Gabriella Gudger, and
Amber Morris, brought home a 1st place finish with a time of 1:53.17.
The Men finished 3rd as
Phil Stupka,
Alex Swinehart,
Parker Young, and
Trevon Houston finished with a 1:36.33.
Weight Throw:
Taylor Walls placed 4th with a best throw of 14.14m (46 ft 4in).
Gavin Trebelo finished 16th with a throw of 12.88m (42ft 3in) and Nicholas Leon finished 23rd with a toss of 10.94m (35 ft 10in).
Shot Put: Jaclyn Jundzilo led Malone with a 10th place finish after a heave of 10.52m (34ft 6.25in), while
Taylor Walls finished 16th with a throw of 9.43m (30ft 11.25in)
Nicholas Leon finished 17th with a throw of 12.72m (41ft 8.75in)
High Jump: Silas Miller finished 8th with a leap of 1.87m (6ft 1.5in), while Aidan Mastaso finished 12th with a jump of 1.77m (5ft 9.75in)
Long Jump:
Megan Reifsnyder jumped 4.52m (14ft 10in), good for a 17th place finish.Â
Collin McClure led the Men's side with a 7th place finish after a 6.20m (20ft 4.25in) effort.
Me'zel Square-Ward followed with a 15th place finish and a final distance of 5.72m (18ft 9.25in)
Triple Jump:
Me'zel Square-Ward finished 6th with a final distance of 12.63m (41ft 5.25in) and
Collin McClure followed at 7th with a best jump of 12.53m (41ft 1.5in).Â

The Pioneers will enjoy the next few weeks off to celebrate the holidays. They will be back in action at Bowling Green State University on Friday, January 12th and Saturday, January 13th at the BGSU Falcon Early Bird Open in Bowling Green, OH.Â
