Team Scores ResultsThe Malone University men's and women's swimming & diving teams completed a collective sweep at a meet at Hiram College Friday night in a meet that also included Ursuline College.
The Pioneer men defeated Hiram 100-77, while the women cruised by Hiram 124-51 and Ursuline 127-57. Both the Pioneer men and women have now won two straight meets.
"We had a few first collegiate wins on both sides," commented Malone head coach
Russ Hunt. "All in all, I'm proud of the way this group embraced the training, and the manner in which they've incorporated that training into their races."
Junior
Jacob Rehfus and freshman
Christina Neumann were among the two individuals who captured their first college win at tonight's meet.
On the women's side, two relay teams registered a first-place finish, while eight individuals tallied wins between both meets tonight. The members of the team B 200 meter medley relay were
Carolin Friedrich,
Charis Parker,
Brittany McCue, and
Karleigh Stichert, as they finished with a 2:21.81 time. The 200 meter freestyle relay team A, which included McCue,
Kaylor Schuttinger,
Cindy Jewel, and
Christina Yu, finished with a 2:07.38 time. Neumann captured two wins on the night in the 200 meter freestyle (2:26.30) and in the 200 meter butterfly (2:46.28).
Olivia Bently also notched two wins of her own on the night in the 200 meter individual medley (2:40.70) and in the 200 breaststroke (2:58.30).
Carolin Friedrich captured the 800 meter freestyle (9:49.40), Schuttinger tallied the win in the 100 meter freestyle (1:07.44),
Marta Jankowska notcheda victory in the 200 meter backstroke (2:33.13), and Parker collected the 400 meter freestyle (5:19.54).
On the men's side,
Jacob Rehfus led the Pioneers as he notched three wins on the night, two individually and one in a relay. He captured the 200 meter freestyle (2:11.41) and the 200 meter backstroke (2:29.33), while being a part of the 200 meter medley relay team A which consisted of
Carlton Lenartowicz,
Tim Collet, and
Austin Weingart (2:01.76). Individually,
Chris Eckard finished first in the 200 meter butterfly (2:31.09), while
Cory Boogaart tallied the win in the 400 meter freestyle (4:26.60).
In addition, there were four second-place finishes for the women's team, two individually and two relays. Individually, Schuttinger placed second in the 50 meter freestyle, while
Quincy Livchak placed second in the 200 meter butterfly with 30:53 and 2:58.29 times respectively. The 200 meter medley relay of
Marta Jankowska,
Victoria Baker, Neumann, and Yu finished with a mark of 2:22.70, while the 200 meter freestyle team C members, Neumann, Parker, Baker, and Jankowska finished with a 2:07.90 time.
The men's team notched seven second-place finishes, six individually and one relay. Individually, runner-up finishes included Eckard in the 800 meter freestyle (9:20.43), Dickes in the 200 meter freestyle (2:15.19), Weingart in the 200 meter individual medley (2:36.26), Carl Lenartowicz in the 50 meter freestyle (27.49), Misak in the 200 meter butterfly (2:32.93), and Boogaart in the 200 meter breaststroke (2:50.10). For the relay it was, Misak, Dickes, Collet and
Dan Furno who finished with a 1:53.17 time.

Malone will be back in action on Saturday, November 7th at the C.T. Branin Natatorium as they host Alderson Broaddus University (WV) for a 2:00 p.m. event.
