Ron Allen, a 1986 Malone graduate (History), was a four-year letterman in baseball at Malone. A 1982 graduate of Minford High School, Allen competed in football, basketball, and baseball and was named All-Southern Ohio Conference in all three sports, receiving a total of 10 varsity letters while at Minford. At Malone, Allen was a four-year letter winner in baseball starting at shortstop as a freshman and sophomore and first base as a junior and senior.
He set three new records during his tenure as a Pioneer, including career hits (163), career RBI’s (136) and season hits (62). In 1983, he helped the Pioneers become Mid-Ohio Conference and NAIA District 22 champions and, in 1984, led the squad to another MOC crown. As a junior, Allen was named Team Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Team MVP and All-MOC First Team. As a senior batting .422, Allen earned numerous awards including Team MVP and Team Offensive Player of the Year. He was also named First Team All-MOC and First Team NAIA District 22. Allen batted .354 for his career with 163 hits, 136 RBI’s, 108 runs and 28 home runs.
He currently resides in Chillicothe, Ohio and is a high school history teacher at Zane Trace Local as well as being the head baseball coach.
