James Ziegler, a 1985 graduate of Malone, started in 102 consecutive games and scored 1453 points (which ranks him 12th all-time at Malone) during his four-year Pioneer basketball career. His 609 rebounds ranks him 12th all-time in rebounding as well at Malone. He earned the team's Best Defense award in 1981-82 and earned five different All-Tournament Team honors, including the 1984-85 Malone Classic, in his junior and senior seasons. In addition, he earned All Mid-Ohio Conference in 1982-83 and 1983-84 (Honorable Mention in 81-82) and was All-District 22 Honorable Mention in 1982-83 and 1983-84.
Ziegler is currently employed as a teacher at Perry High School. Ziegler, who resides in Canton, has two children, Danielle and Brent.
