Paxson, a 1975 graduate of Malone, was a four-year letterman for the Pioneer baseball team. He was named the team's Best Defensive Player in both 1972 and 1973 and earned First Team All-District 22 and First Team All Mid-Ohio Conference honors for the 1973 season as well. In addition, he earned the Thomas Violand Award in 1974 and was chosen for the Sports Ambassadors Team that year as well.
 
Paxson is currently employed by SCM Chemical in Ashtabula, Ohio. He and his wife, Debra, have two children, Clint and Shane, and reside in Ashtabula.
