Zach Logan begins his second year as Malone's defensive coordinator this fall after taking over the duties in the summer of 2017. Prior to coming to Malone, Logan most recently served as the Defensive Backs Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, and Video Coordinator at Marietta College.
"Zach was an outstanding Big Ten student-athlete in two sports," commented Malone's head football coach Fred Thomas. "He brings a vast knowledge of the game. It's exciting to add a bright young coach to our staff who has been such an outstanding recruiter at the collegiate level."
Logan spent three years on the football coaching staff at Marietta while also serving as the interim track and field coach for one season. During the 2016 football campaign, Marietta's pass defense ranked third in the Ohio Athletic Conference as the Pioneers yielded an average of only 201.5 yards through the air per game.
Prior to his time at Marietta, Logan served as an assistant football coach and the head track & field coach at Trotwood-Madison High School, located near Dayton, Ohio. In 2011, Logan helped lead Trotwood-Madison to the OHSAA Division II Football State Championship.
Logan graduated from Purdue University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and Management. He then earned a master's degree in Human Performance from Texas Southern University in 2010.
Logan put together an outstanding high school and collegiate athletic career in both football and track & field. He made 11 career starts as a defensive back for Purdue. Logan also excelled for the Boilermaker track & field team, earning All-Big Ten honors while qualifying for the 2007 Mideast Regional in the 400-meter dash.
As a senior in high school at Trotwood-Madison, Logan was named First Team All-Ohio as a defensive back and also captured a state title in the 400 meters, edging out Glenville's Ted Ginn Jr. with an impressive time of 46.64 seconds.
