Alex Gray begins his first year as Malone's defensive coordinator in 2016.
Gray, a two-time NAIA All-American at Walsh University, spent the last three years on the coaching staff at Notre Dame College prior to joining the Pioneers. He served as the Falcons’ co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach in 2015.
Gray spent four years as the defensive backs coach at Walsh University during current Malone head coach Fred Thomas’ tenure as the Cavaliers’ defensive coordinator. His resume also includes time as the defensive backs coach at Hiram College and as the defensive coordinator at Springfield High School.
A defensive back and return specialist at Walsh, Gray also received a pair of All-MSFA honors in addition to his All-America awards.
Gray graduated from Walsh with a degree in Corporate Communications.
“I have known Alex since he was a senior in high school and I had the pleasure of coaching him,” commented Thomas. “He was the first phone call I made once I accepted the head coaching position. Alex is a bright young coach with a promising future in this business.”
