Martha Ruether

Martha Ruether is in her second season on the Pioneer coaching staff in the fall of 2020.
 
Ruether is a member of the United States Paralympic National Team, competing in the S13/SB13/SM13 classification, and is one of the top Paralympic swimmers in the world. Martha, who is completely blind in her left eye and has 20/400 vision in her right eye, competed in the 2016 Paralympic games in Rio where she earned an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke.
 
Ruether also participated in the 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019 Para Swimming World Championships and has her goals set on the on the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo. Ruether, a freestyle sprint specialist, was on the United State Olympic Training Center Resident Team from 2014-16.
 
Ruether comes to Malone from SUNY Brockport where she was a volunteer assistant coach and coordinator of women’s recruiting in 2018-19. She was a SUNYAC All-Conference swimmer for the Golden Eagles in 2017-18.
 
The Allegany, New York native graduated from SUNY Brockport with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She is pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
