Oprian, a sprinter on the women's track and field team, broke two Pioneer indoor records on Saturday at the Marietta College First Glimpse Meet.
In her first collegiate competition, the freshman from Uniontown, Ohio (Lake H.S.) clocked a first-place time of 7.17 seconds in the 55-meter dash, topping the previous record of 7.30 that was set by Sarah Hackett in 1993.
Oprian then trimmed .07 off the Malone record in the 200-meter dash, winning the event in 26.19 seconds to edge the previous mark of 26.26 that was established by Stephanie Volpe in 1998.
