Coblentz, a 6'2 guard, led the Pioneer men's basketball team to a 2-0 record last week in a pair of games against NCAA Division II opponents.
The senior from Hartville, Ohio averaged 27.0 points, two rebounds and two steals per game. He netted 27 points in the Pioneers' hard-fought 81-79 home win over Central State University on Thursday, putting Malone on top for good with 20 seconds remaining after drilling his fifth three-pointer of the evening. Coblentz then turned in another 27-point outing on Saturday to help the Pioneers record an 89-73 triumph at Urbana University.
On the week, Coblentz drained 15 of 28 (53.6%) shots from the field, eight of 13 (61.5%) three-pointers and 16 of 18 (88.9%) foul shots.
Following Saturday’s victory at Urbana , Coblentz now ranks 27th on Malone’s all-time scoring list with 1273 career points, needing just 35 more to move into the Top 25.
