Veldhuizen, a 6'4 forward, averaged 16.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game last week to help Malone register three impressive victories.
The sophomore from North Canton, Ohio tossed in 15 points and grabbed four boards in the Pioneers’ thrilling 71-67 triumph at local rival Walsh University on Tuesday night, helping Malone snap the Cavaliers’ streak of 48 consecutive home victories. Prior to the Pioneers' four-point win on Tuesday, Walsh had won nine straight games over Malone and had posted a perfect 30-0 record at home since opening its new Alumni Arena in the fall of 2009.
Veldhuizen then followed up Tuesday’s strong outing by posting two more impressive performances at home over the weekend during the Hoops 4 Healing Classic. Veldhuizen registered a career-high 26 points in Malone's 95-93 win against Ohio Christian University on Friday before tallying nine points and 11 rebounds in just 22 minutes of a lop-sided 95-49 victory over OSU Lima on Saturday.
