Thompson, a sophomore distance runner from Canton, Ohio (GlenOak H.S.), had an outstanding performance in the 10,000 meters at Bucknell University's Bison Classic on Friday.

Thompson broke the Great Midwest Athletic Conference record in the event while also provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championships after placing 19th among 46 competitors with a time of 36:32.20. 

The strong showing moves Thompson to the No. 5 position on the Pioneers' all-time 10K performance list.  It also ranks as the 30th-fastest 10K time in NCAA Division II this year.
