At the GLIAC Championships in University Center, Michigan last weekend, Black, a senior from Norwich, Connecticut, posted a runner-up finish, among 28 entrants, in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:32.26 to tally an NCAA provisional mark and eclipse his own previous best time by 27 seconds. The mark is currently the 18th-best time in NCAA Division II.

In addition, he also took ninth (among 23 runners) in the one-mile run in another personal-best time of 4:17.40.

Black, who scored eight points for his team with his second-place finish in the 5000, helped Malone earn a sixth-place finish among 13 teams at the GLIAC championship meet.
