Williams, a junior from Celina, Ohio (Celina H.S.), paced Malone in scoring at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Ashland University, May 1-3 as he tallied 12 points to help the Pioneers to a sixth-place team finish among 14 teams.
Williams became the program’s first GLIAC champion in an event as he won the 3000-meter steeplechase, among a 26-man field, in a time of 9:03.82, which was an NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time and also a top-ten time nationally in NCAA Div. II.
In addition, Williams also finished seventh in the 1500 meters in a time of 3:56.41.
