Malone University centerfielder
Nate Cobb was tabbed the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) North Division Player of the Week following an outstanding five-game stretch. Cobb helped the Pioneers post a 4-1 mark during those five games, including back-to-back doubleheader sweeps of G-MAC South foes Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins this past weekend.

The sophomore from Massillon, OH (Jackson HS) reached base in all five games from his leadoff spot, upping his streak of reaching base to 27 straight games to begin the season. Cobb batted .429 (9-for-21) with two doubles, a triple, and his second career homerun. He scored a team-high six runs and collected a team-high eight RBI. The speedster also stole five bases, including one each in all five games, and made nine putouts in the outfield, one of which came on the run and prevented the tying run from scoring in the sixth inning of Malone's 1-0 win over Alderson Broaddus on Friday.

In the Pioneers' 14-9 game two win over Davis & Elkins on Saturday, Cobb had a banner day at the plate, collecting a career-high six RBI. In the top of the second, he crushed a three-run bomb off of the scoreboard in right to put Malone in front. In the third, he added an RBI single, stole a base, and later scored. In the sixth, he drove in two more runs on a triple to center.

On the season, Cobb is hitting .311 with a team-high .471 on-base percentage. He leads the team with 25 runs scored and is tied for the G-MAC lead with 19 stolen bases.

Malone will be back in action on Tuesday, April 3rd in a non-conference contest against NCAA DII #9 Mercyhurst.beginning at 12:00 pm at Jackson.
