Ty Jordan Earns Great Midwest Athlete of the Week Honors

Malone University guard Ty Jordan has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference's Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week following his outstanding performance in the Pioneers' victories over Cedarville University, the University of Findlay and Hillsdale College.

Jordan, a senior from Houston, Texas, averaged 23.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.6 steals in the three games.

During an 84-82 overtime win at Cedarville on Tuesday, Jordan scored 23 of his game-high 26 points during the second half and overtime.

On Thursday, he tallied 26 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals as the Pioneers knocked off NCAA Division II #11 Findlay, handing the Oilers their first G-MAC loss and snapping a 16-game UF winning streak.

Then in Saturday's triumph over Hillsdale, Jordan notched a game-high 17 points, all of which came in the second half.  He also matched his season high with eight assists, secured five rebounds, and blocked two shots.

On the week, the G-MAC's third-leading scorer shot 52.6% from the field and made 13 of 23 (56.5%) three-pointers.

After defeating the first and second-place teams in the Great Midwest standings (Findlay and Hillsdale) in back-to-back contests, Malone's record currently stands at 17-7 overall and 10-6 in the conference.

The Pioneers, winners of eight of their last nine games, will be back in action at Osborne Hall on Thursday with a 6:00 p.m. match-up against Kentucky Wesleyan College.
