Malone University junior
Mallory Adams, a middle/outside hitter on the Pioneers' unbeaten volleyball team, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) East Division Player of the Week following an outstanding weekend performance in the Hall of Fame City Challenge. Malone was just one of three G-MAC teams to make it through the first week of the season unscathed.
Â
Adams, of Medina, Ohio (Highland HS), led the Pioneers to a perfect 4-0 record and their best start to the season since 2010. Adams was named to the All-Tournament team after leading Malone with 44 kills (3.14 kills per set) and hitting a team-best .288. On the defensive end, she contributed 20 blocks (1.43 per set) and 32 digs (2.29 per set). The six-footer also added eight assists and four service aces. She totaled 59.5 points on the weekend, averaging 4.25 points a set.
Â
Adams led the entire G-MAC in blocks this past week and was one of just two players to rank in the top-10 in both kills and hitting percentage. A true six-rotation player, she was the only athlete in the conference to average better than three kills, two digs, and one block per set. To put that into perspective, only one player in all of NCAA DII averaged those numbers over the span of the entire season last fall.

The Pioneers will look to continue their winning streak this Friday and Saturday, September 8-9, when they travel to Salt Lake City to compete in the Westminster College Invitational.
