The Malone University volleyball team opens up Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play on Tuesday, September 12th at 7:00 pm when it welcomes Walsh University to Osborne Hall for an intra-county rivalry matchup. The Pioneers and Cavaliers met two times last fall, with the Cavs winning both matches. Tuesday's matchup marks the first time the two schools will meet as members of the Great Midwest.

- The Pioneers are coming off a 1-3 weekend at the Westminster Invitational in Salt Lake City; their lone win came in five sets against Western New Mexico.
- Mallory Adams, who was named to the Westminster Invitational All-Tournament Team, comes into Tuesday's contest leading the G-MAC with 1.14 blocks per set. She also leads Malone with 85 kills through eight matches.
- Veronica Gehring collected a team-high 42 kills in Salt Lake City and enters the week averaging 2.82 kills per set.
- Faith Lau (2.30 k/s) and Rachel Santos (1.97 k/s) are third and fourth on the team in kills respectively.
- Setter Cathryn Miller is 6th in the G-MAC in assists (7.89 a/s) and second on the team with 76 total digs.
- Libero Maggie Hamrock leads the squad with 110 digs (3.79 d/s).
- Middle hitter Brooklyn Sullivan leads all G-MAC freshmen with 0.93 blocks per set.
- As a team, Malone ranks 2nd in the conference in blocks (2.19 b/s).
- The Pioneers are also 5th in the G-MAC in aces (1.66/s), and 6th in kills (11.55 k/s), hitting percentage (.193), and digs (15.69 d/s).
- Malone is the only team in the conference with six players: Hamrock, Miller, Adams (2.21), Julia Marino (2.19), Lau (1.93), and Sydney Black (1.83), averaging more than 1.8 digs per set.
- The Pioneer defense has also given up the second fewest aces (0.86/s) of any team in the league.
- Malone was 5-5 in G-MAC matches in 2016.
