Madison Corrick Named G-MAC Softball Player of the Week

Malone University freshman Madison Corrick has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference's Softball Player of the Week for her performance in eight games last week for the Pioneers. Malone won their last four games of the week against Alderson Broaddus and jumped from seventh to fifth in the conference standings.

The highlight of Corrick's week came in Friday's 7-2 victory over Alderson Broaddus, when she hit for the cycle. Corrick, from GlenOak High School, is believed to be the first softball player to ever hit for the cycle at Malone.

Corrick nearly hit for the cycle a second time on Saturday, as she had two singles, a double, and a triple in the contest.

The centerfielder had 18 hits on the week, including 5 doubles, 3 triples, and a homerun in 28 at-bats. Her batting average for the week was .643 and her slugging percentage was 1.143. Corrick had ten RBIs on the week as well.

Corrick has started all 45 games for the Pioneers this season. She is currently on an 18-game hitting streak, and she has a batting average of .343 on the season. Corrick is leading the conference in triples with five on the season, and she is in the top ten in the G-MAC in both hits and runs on the season.
