Roscoe Blackburn became the third Pioneer pitcher of the season to take home Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Pitcher of the Week honors following his outstanding performance last Saturday at Cedarville.
Â
Blackburn, a junior out of Worthington, Ohio, struck out a career-high 11 batters in a 4-1 road victory over the Yellow Jackets. The southpaw did not walk a batter nor did he give up an earned run as he scattered seven hits over a seven-inning complete game effort. Of his 11 strikeouts, 10 were of the swing-and-miss variety. Blackburn also tossed two scoreless innings in a loss to Seton Hill Tuesday. In nine total innings last week, he struck out 12 batters and posted a 0.89 WHIP.
Â
In 22.1 innings pitched this season, Blackburn boasts a perfect 0.00 ERA along with a 1.03 WHIP. He also has a team-high 24 strikeouts and a .215 batting average against. Blackburn joins
Eric Mullet and
Joshua Hurford who were each named G-MAC Pitcher of the Week earlier this month.
