Malone University right-handed pitcher
Joshua Hurford was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Pitcher of the Week following a pair of stellar outings last week in Tucson, Arizona. Hurford becomes the second straight Pioneer to take home the weekly honor, joining
Eric Mullet who earned the award seven days ago.
Â
Hurford (Sebring, OH/Sebring McKinley HS) finished 2-0 on the week with a sparkling 0.64 ERA, 19 strikeouts, and a sub-1.00 WHIP over 14 innings pitched. Making his first start of the year in a 1-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan last Monday, the junior hurler struck out a career-high 12 batters in a complete game shutout. In a win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday, Hurford allowed just one earned run and struck out seven over seven innings to help the Pioneers close out their Arizona trip with an 8-3 record.
Â
The Pioneers, now 9-4 overall, are scheduled to take on Tiffin in their home opener this Wednesday, March 15th at noon.
