Malone University forward
Mitchell Spotleson has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week following his outstanding performance during the Pioneers' convincing 114-62 victory over Wright State University Lake on Friday.
The 6'5" junior from Uniontown, Ohio (Lake H.S.) hit seven of eight three-pointers to help the Pioneers establish a new team single-game record (and tie the G-MAC single-game record) with 20 made three-pointers on the night.
Spotleson's seven treys marked a new individual career high. He also grabbed five rebounds and finished with a game-high 23 points - just one point shy of his previous career-high of 24.
He enters the week ranked second in the G-MAC with an average of 2.6 three-pointers per outing. He is also ranked fifth in the conference in three-point percentage (42.6%), ninth in rebounding (6.1 per game) and tenth in scoring (13.3 points per contest).
Malone will take part in its first-ever G-MAC contest on Tuesday evening when it travels to Philippi, West Virginia for a 7:30 p.m. showdown with Alderson Broaddus University.
