Malone junior running back Matt Blasiole has been selected as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Offensive Player of the Week while redshirt sophomore kicker Marcus Moeller has been named the G-MAC Special Teams Player of the week after their outstanding efforts in Saturday's week one win over Taylor.
 
Blasiole led the Pioneers with 233 yards of total offense and two touchdowns as the Pioneers snapped a 15-game losing streak. His 178 yards rushing led the G-MAC in week one while his 55 yards receiving was second in the conference. Blasiole scored twice on a career-long 61-yard reception in the first quarter and then again on a 51-yard run to start the second half. The talented runner finished the afternoon with 8.1 yards per carry.
 
Moeller was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goal attempts from 25 and 28 yards out and was 3-for-4 on extra point tries. In addition to his scoring production, Moeller totaled four touchbacks on seven kickoffs. He also punted seven times for a 34.1 yards-per-punt average.
 
This week marked the first time in G-MAC history that football Plaer of the Week awards were handed out. Malone took two of the three inaugural awards as Alderson Broaddus' Brandon Lavern earned Defensive Player of the Week with a three-sack performance.
