For the second consecutive week, the Malone University football team took home two of the three Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Week awards. Redshirt sophomore quarterback
John Iacucci earned his first G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week honor while redshirt sophomore kicker
Marcus Moeller was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Â
Against Division I opponent Robert Morris University, Iacucci completed 19 of his 32 pass attempts for 256 yards and two touchdowns, including a fourth quarter hookup with
Ashton Dulin on 4th and goal. Despite four sacks and near constant pressure, Iacucci also added 22 yards rushing. The composed signal caller led Malone down the field for a score in the final four minutes, but a failed two-point conversion try allowed RMU to come away with the 21-19 victory.
Â
Moeller kept Malone in the game early with two first half field goals from 26 and 29 yards out. He was also called upon to punt eight times for 327 yards (40.9 avg) and recorded a 60-yard punt along with two punts downed inside the 20-yard line. Moeller earned G-MAC Special Teams Player of the Week following the week win over Taylor.
Â
The Pioneers, now 1-3 on the season, face off against FCS opponent Saint Francis University (PA) this Saturday, October 1st at 1:00 pm.
