Malone University volleyball player
Mallory Adams was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week following her tremendous performance in the final week of the regular season.Â
Â
The sophomore outside hitter from Medina, Ohio (Highland HS) totaled 45 kills, 31 digs, 15 blocks, three assists, and two service aces in a trio of matches last week. In a must-win match against Alderson Broaddus, Adams put together the game of her life to lead the Pioneers back from a two sets to one deficit and a seven-point disadvantage in the fourth set. Adams finished the match with 21 kills, 18 digs, and 10 blocks for her first collegiate triple-double as all three totals marked career-highs. Her triple-double was the only one by a G-MAC athlete this season.
Â
Less than 24 hours after leading the Pioneers to their first-ever berth in the G-MAC Tournament, Adams delivered another outstanding performance against Davis & Elkins in the season finale. In the four-set win over the Senators, she collected 14 kills, eight digs, and four blocks to help Malone secure the #2 seed in the G-MAC Black Division. Adams finished the regular season ranked 6th in the conference in kills per set (2.96) and 8th in blocks (0.80 b/s). She finished 3rd in the league with 358 total kills.
Malone will take on Kentucky Wesleyan in the first round of the G-MAC Tournament on Thursday, November 17th at the Mason Arena in Mason, Ohio. Match time is set for 7:30 pm.
