Malone University junior linebacker Josh Correll was selected as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Defensive Player of the Week after an outstanding individual performance in last Saturday's game against Alderson Broaddus.
 
Correll totaled 19 tackles against the Battlers, including 11 solo stops and a tackle for loss. The 19 tackles was the most-ever by a G-MAC player and the most by a Malone player since Demarco Donaldson recorded 19 stops against Wayne State in 2013. It was also the 4th most by a player in NCAA DII this season.
 
On the season, Correll has 32 tackles through six games. He and the rest of the Pioneers will be back in action this Saturday at home when they take on Haywood at 2:00 pm.
